Can someone please explain to me why they need the draft to be done in June? What is the pressing need to have players drafted right away? Why not hold a draft in August? (and still continue with the playoffs in July/August)?

I heard they want to do the draft because the contracts for the scouts expire in late June or July. If there is no other hockey going on teams might not want to renew these contracts. Beyond that I haven't heard one reason why drafting now makes any sense at all.

Beyond that I can't see how this NHL plan has any legit probability of being successful. The odds of even moving that many players via airline to these sites without someone getting infected seems remote. Then a 2 week lockdown before any meaningful games....

It's going to be a poop show. It's also going to be crazy to figure out conditional picks, but the league will have to manage that.

Take the top 12 teams per conference. Then have a draft lottery for the remaining 7 teams. One drawing winner gets top pick. Have Detroit have the best odds of winning like now and keep the worst teams with the best odds. Everyone else drafts based on their ranking headed into the playoffs.

Season's over. Read Dr. Fauci's interview with Peter King. So you start testing and one player is positive. So that guy is quarantined, except he's been with the entire team, so you'd have to shut down the team. If you shut down one team, you can't really have a season or playoff, so you shut it all down. That's if ONE person tests positive.

Ok, what if a trainer, coach or peripheral person tests positive? Again, you shut down the team, hence the entire thing. What are the odds that one person in who knows how many test positive? Pretty good.

There's no way they're finishing the season. People should just realize that until there's a vaccine, there's not really going to be any sports. And if they try, they'll just have to shut down at some point.
